Incorporated in 1961 and located 15 miles north of downtown Denver and 15 miles west of Boulder, the City and County of Broomfield is Colorado's smallest county encompassing a mere 33 square miles. Per its Comprehensive Plan, forty percent of the city and county must be dedicated to open lands. “Open-lands” is a broad term which includes golf courses, open space, parks, trails, etc. Broomfield currently has 8,361 acres of open lands and is planning 24,043 more acres. 

The city is home to Interlocken, an award-winning technology business park that encompasses 963 acres and employs 8,700 people. FlatIron Crossing Mall lies just to the west of Interlocken and features indoor and outdoor shopping, upscale restaurants such as Village Tavern, Benihana, and P.F. Changs, national brand name stores including Dicks, Macy’s and Dillard’s and an AMC theater complex.  Broomfield also features The 1STBANK Center, an outstanding mid-size venue with seating for 6,500 which attracts top name music and comedy talent and sporting events. Broomfield is also the location of the burgeoning Baseline community located near Highway 7 and I-25. It is an entire community designed with the live, work, walk, dine, sip and shop feel of downtown but with the hominess and open space vibes of the Broomfield suburbs.

 As of December 2022, the median sales price for a home in Broomfield was $598,000.
